I have two little tricks of the trade for you today. I love summer warm weather and fruit water is my favorite thing to drink when it is so hot outside and I am trying to not drink calories. I put blueberries, strawberries, limes, lemons and oranges in my fruit water. I sometime also add a splash of Orange Juice or squeeze half of the orange in the water. If I am entertaining I will add mint to the top of the glass for a big punch of elegance and beauty. I make the water a few hours before I serve it.
My husband loves southern sweet tea with fresh lemon as his drink of choice.
Southern Sweet Tea
4 tea bags
1 3/4 cups raw sugar (reg. sugar works fine)
Place 4 tea bags in a pan of water and bring to a boil. One it boils turn the burner off and let steep for 30 minutes. Put sugar in a 1 gallon picture and pour hot tea over sugar. Stir. Serve with fresh lemon over ice.
I also do corn on the cob the easy way……..
I cut the top of the corn off to remove a lot of silks and I cut the bottom off to making peeling easier after grilling. I then throw the corn….husks and all on the grill for 30 minutes, turning every 10 minutes. So easy!!!!! This tastes great with a flavored butter which is another way to make your simply made corn on the cob look even better!
From Food Network:
Cilantro Lime Butter:
2 sticks unsalted butter, at room temperature
1/4 cup chopped cilantro leaves
1 lime, zested and juiced
2 teaspoons salt
3/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
Put the butter in a mixing bowl and, using a rubber spatula, mix in the cilantro, lime zest, lime juice, salt and cayenne. Use immediately or refrigerate.
Yield: 3/4 cup
I hope you are having a great summer so far this year! Remember to make every minute count because we are not promised tomorrow!!!
