Spaghetti Squash Anyone?

I have always been one to try the odd things in the American grocery store and Spaghetti Squash was one of the strange looking things (to me) I tried as a young mother.  I would try to get my kids to eat their vegetables with them fighting me all the way. Whatever the vegetable,  I would act like it was the newest coolest thing EVER! The Spaghetti Squash was one of the veggies I tried.

All I did was cut it in half, scrap the seeds out, wash and add butter and garlic salt.

Bake at 350* for about an hour. Depending on the size you have. You know it is done when it flakes away from the sides of the shell.

It was a hit with my kids when they were little! I really built it up and acted as if it was the coolest thing in the world to have Spaghetti Squash for dinner. You can put sauce on it and just act like it is Spaghetti.

I believe if we act like things are awesome and have the kids help prepare the food that they are more willing to eat it and think it is great because they helped. My grandson Cohen can tell you what most vegetables are and even fresh ginger, garlic and etc. because I always taught him (all of them) when we went into the grocery stores. I would let him scrap a spot on the ginger and smell it. It gave him a visual and a scent that he will remember. He could even probably pick a ripe avocado.

It is always good to have the kids help…but make it fun!!!

I know as a parent you feel like you don’t always have time to do these things but you must take the time now because soon…..they won’t want you to. 😦

My baby is 29 and she still loves Spaghetti Squash and sneaks a bite before dinner……
